At the AACC we believe in the power of music to change lives. Whether providing free Singing Valentines to seniors, caroling in Old Town, Alexandria, joining other choruses like Alfred Street Baptist Church Male Chorus in Community Sings, or honoring veterans arriving in D.C. for “Honor Flights” and at other events, we strive to be a choral arts group that makes an impact on our local community.
Youth Education
We have formed a partnership with the D.C. public schools to provide choral education for their students. Each year we hold an all-day workshop with more than 100 high school students, teaching them about a cappella harmony and providing coaching from top educators. The day includes lunch, snacks, and a lot of fun, and culminates in a public performance.
Singing Valentines
Each year we provide free “Singing Valentines” to area senior centers and retirement communities. AACC quartets perform love songs appropriate to the occasion to share a little Valentine spirit with the residents.
Honor Flights
The Honor Flights programs brings military veterans from around the country to Washington D.C. to tour the nation’s monuments and war memorials. The AACC is honored to meet those arriving flights at National Airport and serenade the arriving veterans with patriotic music as they depart for their tour.
Old Town Carol Crawl
Each year members of the AACC clad in Santa hats stroll through Old Town Alexandria during the holiday season, singing carols and spreading holiday cheer for the shoppers and restaurant patrons.
Spring2ACTion
Every April the community of Alexandria comes together for a day of giving to support local nonprofits. The AACC are proud participants in this event, which has become our most significant fundraising day of the year. To learn more about Spring2ACTion, click here.
